About
Jayne’s creative background began with a career in Fashion Design.
She has had so much fun creating a huge variety of garments as a clothing designer and pattern cutter for well over 4 decades, with 13 years as head designer/pattern cutter for Thornton Hall, as well as many private commissions.
She co-owned a sign and design company for 13 years working with graphic designers on concepts and designs. In this time she carved out a niche in the Funeral Industry with ‘Dying Art’ custom digitally printed coffins, often using photos she had taken, such as gorgeous florals, and beautiful New Zealand scenery.
For 8 years she was an Importer/ Wholesaler with her company ‘Feature’ offering a range of boutique garden products. Many printed with her own designs. These were manufactured offshore and sold to Garden centres and Mitre 10’s around the country .These included Ladies printed gumboots and tools printed with flowers.
While Art is a fairly new venture, these previous careers helped her gain the skills of 'being able to see’ in terms of colour and composition, which made the transition to Artist relatively seamless.
She learnt acrylic brush and painting skills at the Hungry Creek Art School, then was taught to paint with oil by leading artist Mark Olsen who generously included some of his special techniques.
Oil is now her favoured medium.
“I’m having so much fun, and looking forward to the journey ahead, and all the art I will create in the future”
